90年代にザヴィエル名義でソウル色の濃い作品を出していたオークランドのシンガー・ソングライターが、銃で襲われたり、交通事故に遭ったりと2度死にかけたハードな体験を経て、名前も新たにブルース歌手として再出発。ブルースと言ってもオーセンティックなものではなく、例えばアラバマ・シェイクスのような、エモーショナルでありつつ現代的で洗練された感覚があるので、日本でも多くの人から愛されそう。
