カウンターテナーのフィリップ・ジャルスキーと、ギタリストのティボー・ガルシアによる初のジョイント・アルバム『A sa guitare』は、20世紀フランスの作曲家フランシス・プーランクの歌曲「ギターの寄す」にちなんで名付けられています。しかし作品は文化的にも文体的にも非常に広いものから厳選し、収録された22曲は400年にもわたり、フランス、イギリス、オーストリア、イタリア、スペイン、ブラジル、アルゼンチン、アメリカの作曲家や作詞家によるものとなっています。
「このアルバムは、さまざまな文化、さまざまな大陸、さまざまな言語の間の旅です。アイデアは、リスクを冒すことでした…時には曲と曲の間では完全に異なる世界に移動することもあります。ルネッサンス音楽と、フランスの名シャンソン歌手であったバルバラの歌の間でジャグリングするとき、私たちは非常に異なる色を呼び起こすことができます。私たち2人の音楽は、様々な色のパレットを使ってユニークなものを生み出されており、アルバムには多くのことを考えましたが、一番なことは心も込めて歌うことです」と、フィリップ・ジャルスキーとティボー・ガルシアは説明しています。

The recordings of countertenor Philippe Jaroussky have grown increasingly adventurous, extending well into repertory beyond what was intended or even conceivable for the countertenor voice. Guitar recordings as a group are often eclectic, ranging from Renaissance repertory to flamenco to popular song and more. With A sa guitare, however, Jaroussky and guitarist Thibaut Garcia seem to have pushed themselves to pursue the principle of eclecticism to near its limits. The challenge is perhaps greater for Jaroussky, who is a bit out of his range in Dowland (although the results can be described as cute) and in the likes of the song Septembre by the popular singer Barbara, but Garcia, drawing on the work of several arrangers, including himself, achieves equally startling results in Schuberts Erlkonig, D. 328, outdoing Jaroussky, who doesnt quite bring out the one-man opera quality of the song. Right from the very first notes, in the Poulenc song that gives the album its title, Garcia serves notice that his is no mere accompanimental role, and the program, as a whole, has a striking feeling of deep collaboration. The players venture into Brazilian song and into flamenco, making these genres appear seamless with Mozart and Rossini, and this surely did not come easily. One may also applaud the sound engineering, which gives the performers the proper intimate quality without any extraneous noise. This is a fascinating and constantly surprising outing from two real masters.
