リトル・ミックスのキャリアを総括した初のベスト・アルバム『Between Us』

全世界トータル・セールス6,000万枚以上、累計楽曲ストリーミング回数120億回越えを誇る、イギリスの国民的スーパー・ガールズグループ=リトル・ミックス。2011年にUKオーディション番組＜Xファクター＞で見事優勝を果たした彼女たちが、今年で結成10周年を迎えるにあたり、初のベスト・アルバム『Between Us』をリリースする。
これまでリリースした6作のオリジナル・アルバムが全て全英チャートトップ5入り、シングル5曲が全英シングル・チャート1位を獲得し、この10年で正真正銘UKポップシーンのトップの座へと上り詰めた。2020年12月に、初期メンバーであったジェシー・ネルソンが脱退をするも、その後3人での活動を再スタート。2021年の＜BRIT AWARDS＞では女性グループとしては史上初となる＜ベスト・ブリティッシュ・グループ＞も受賞するなど、その勢いは止まらない!
キャリア初のベスト・アルバムとなる今作は、これまでのヒット・シングルはもちろんの事、今年に入りリリースされた「ハートブレイク・アンセム(with ギャランティス&デヴィッド・ゲッタ)」、「キス・マイ (Uh-Oh)(withアン・マリー)」、更には新曲も複数曲収録される。CD、アナログ盤他、各形態ごとに異なる絵柄のジャケット写真が用意されるなど、10周年を飾るにふさわしい超豪華リリースとなる。

Since becoming the first group to win Britains The X Factor in 2011, Little Mix have proven themselves worthy of the crown, championing a swaggering girl-power attitude thats equal parts Beyonce, En Vogue, and Christina Aguilera. Marking their ten-year anniversary as a group, they released their first-ever greatest-hits collection with 2021s Between Us. Featured here are all of their previously released hits, along with some fan favorites including Wings off 2012s DNA, Black Magic from 2015s Get Weird, and Shout Out to My Ex from 2016s Glory Days. We also get collaborations like 2016s No More Sad Songs with Machine Gun Kelly, 2015s Woman Like Me with Nicki Minaj, and their 2017 remix of Reggaeton Lento with CNCO. Other tracks included the 80s synth pop-influenced Break Up Song, the kinetic Move, and the dancehall-infused Hair featuring Sean Paul. There are also a few newly recorded tracks that find the group pared down to a trio following the departure of member Jesy Nelson, who left in 2020. Of those newer cuts, we get the poignant title-track anthem that finds them ruminating on all of the triumphs and struggles of longterm friendship. Theres also the sultry dance number Love (Sweet Love) and the self-empowerment anthem No, both of which fit agreeably alongside their past hits. While Nelsons swaggering soprano will be missed, these songs should work to reassure fans of their future as a trio. Between Us represents Little Mix nicely, working as both a summation of their career thus far and a starting point for whatever is to come. ~ Matt Collar
