TikTokで40万本以上の動画で使用され、全米チャートでも5位まで上昇した、メロウなラップと癒しのトラックが織りなす「Favorite Song」を収録したToosii(トゥーシ)の2作目。10代でホームレスになるなど過酷な生活を強いられた経験を持っているが、母親と2人の姉に育てられた事から、彼の音楽は全体的に優しさと愛と癒しに溢れており、美しく響くピアノの音色も特徴的で、メロウな中に感じる「癒し」が聴く者を優しいい持ちで包む。暴力的な作品も多いHIP HOPにしては異色なメロウ&ヒーリングな感覚が新しい次世代を感じる1枚。

Since his debut album in 2020, prolific North Carolina rapper and singer Toosii has released several EPs, a mixtape, and a scattering of singles, one of which, 2023s "Favorite Song," became his first chart-topper on the way to going platinum. Two versions of that hit -- a remix with Khalid and the "Toxic Version" with Future -- help anchor his sophomore full-length, NAUJOUR. Toosii made his name on confessional, inward-looking songs with a strong melodic component, a trend he continues here. Bearing his first name -- NauJour Lazier Grainger -- as the title, the album doubles down on introspective material with songs that run the gamut from mellow romantic balladry ("Another Love Song") and reflections on family ("Sinking") to the dark tension of "Pull Up," which features a guest spot from 21 Savage. NAUJOUR also includes the heartfelt "Love Is…," a song previously included on Toosiis 2022 Boys Dont Cry EP. ~ Timothy Monger
