Forthright and poetic, Joni Mitchell's songs are raw nerves, tales of love and loss (two words with relative meaning here) etched with stunning complexity; even tracks like "All I Want," "My Old Man," and "Carey" -- the brightest, most hopeful moments on the record -- are darkened by bittersweet moments of sorrow and loneliness. 彼女の初期の名盤と言えば迷わずこれです。アコースティック、またはフォーク調であるけどメロディと演奏が独特で彼女でしか鳴らせないオンリーワンのもの。M①「オール・アイ・ウォント」はいつ聴いても鳥肌もんです！

キャロル・キングの「タペストリー」と比肩する女性シンガーソングライター作品の大名盤。フォーク系のサウンドとジョニ・ミッチェルの透き通った歌声との相性が抜群でずっと聴いてられる。フォークでありながら都会的な洗練さ感じさせ、フォークならではの温もりや親密さも併せ持つ。
スティーヴン・スティルス、ジェームス・テイラーなど録音参加メンバーも超豪華。
