作曲家とのつながりを感じる精細なシューベルト!

ピアニスト小林愛実が、ニュー・アルバム『シューベルト:4つの即興曲 作品142、ピアノ・ソナタ第19番 ハ短調、ロンド イ長調 他』をリリース。約3年ぶりとなる彼女のニュー・アルバムは、小林愛実が長年取り組みたいと熱望していたシューベルトの作品集となっている。

メインとなる曲目は《4つの即興曲 作品142》と《ピアノ・ソナタ第19番 ハ短調》。《4つの即興曲 作品142》は小林愛実がずっと演奏したいと思い、最近のコンサートでも披露している想い入れのある楽曲。《ピアノ・ソナタ第19番》はアメリカ留学時代に初めて取り組んだシューベルト作品で、シューベルトのアルバムを作るなら入れたいと思っていたと語る、こちらも想い出の曲である。

さらに、夫であるピアニスト反田恭平との連弾《ロンド イ長調》も収録。夫妻の共演としては初めての公式録音となる音源だ。録音は、今年5月、数々の名録音を生みだした、伝統と歴史のあるベルリンのテルデックス・スタジオにて行われた。ブックレットには、撮り下ろしの写真をフロントカバーに使用。

前作『ショパン:前奏曲集 他』より約3年が経ち、その間ショパン国際ピアノ・コンクール第4位入賞、結婚、出産と小林愛実本人にとって大きな出来事を経験してきた。今年9月23日に誕生日を迎え、29歳となった小林愛実。本アルバムに収録されているのは、シューベルトが晩年の30～31歳で作曲した作品ばかり。数々の出来事を経て、これらを作曲したシューベルトと同じ年代となった今だからこそ奏でることのできる音楽で、小林愛実の世界を創り上げた1枚だ。

The Schubert works on this 2024 Warner Classics release are well-trodden ground indeed, with the possible exception of the Rondo in A major for two pianos, D. 951, a lovely late work on which pianist Aimi Kobayashi is joined by her husband, Kyohei Sorita. Nevertheless, Kobayashi, one of the young and charismatic players who populate the labels roster, might be expected to deliver unusual readings, and she does. In a nutshell, she takes Schubert at his word when he calls pieces Impromptus. Her readings are a bit discursive, seeming to land on flashes of inspiration as Schuberts generally intimate listeners might have experienced in his playing. Sample the Impromptu in A flat major, Op. 142, No. 2, where Kobayashi takes an extremely slow tempo, giving the music a chorale-like flavor. Its a striking performance. Kobayashi is generally low-key, and the discursive quality continues into the Piano Sonata in C minor, D. 958. Its maybe a bit less successful here, with the outer movements seeming to lose focus at times. The slow movement is again remarkably serene, however. Mileage may vary among listeners on this reading, but in general, few will argue that these are unoriginal Schubert performances. ~ James Manheim
