Trap innovator Future continues his run of solid, self-sustained output with The Real Me, his tenth studio album and twelfth release to debut atop the Billboard 200 albums chart; much like his 2024 project Mixtape Pluto, its another release free of any featured guests. Despite Future going it alone on the mike on all 22 tracks of The Real Me, he still has help in the production department from some notable names. While much of the album finds Future in his well-defined trap mode, there are several interesting diversions, such as the Pharrell Williams-produced electro-pop tune “Alice,” or the unexpectedly gentle tones and breezes of acoustic guitar textures on “California Girls.” Wheezy handles production on a large share of the tracks, and he’s joined by Southside and Sean Momberger on the spiraling neon synth-trap of “Hollywood,” and collaborates with ATL Jacob and RushDee on the more tried-and-true-trap beat of “Konnichiwah.” ~ TiVo Staff
