2016年に没後40年を迎えるジャン・マルティノン。その演奏は、フランス物の中でも粋で繊細でダイナミックさは、もっともエスプリを感じる指揮者といえましょう。特にエラートやEMIでその演奏が発揮されています。この1968-1975年の間に録音されたフランス国立放送管弦楽団の演奏を中心とした演奏は、ピアニッシモからフォルテシモ突然立ち上がる瞬発力など、ダイナミックかつ繊細さを欠かさない名演ばかりです。今回のセット化のために、フランス国立視聴覚研究所所蔵のシャンゼリゼ劇場でのライヴ音源なども収録いたしました。

1968-1975 マルティノン後期録音集＜限定盤＞｜CDアルバム
マルティノンは、名前程は日本での評価が低い印象を受ける指揮者です。むしろ不遇なイメージも感じます。名門シカゴ響の音楽監督に就任するも、名指揮者ライナーの後釜ではなかなか難しい。楽団との折り合いも悪くあまり良い録音は見当たりません。その後のフランスのオーケストラとの録音も、同時期にミュンシュ、クリュイタンスが活躍していたため、お得意のフランス物の作品はほとんどが重複していたため評価も2番手、3番手に甘んじていたように思える。中にはデュカスの交響曲のように他の追随を許さない演奏もあるのですが、如何せん曲目がマイナーなため損をしている。このBOXは、ラベル、ドビュッシーを除いたフランス物と珍しい作品、例えばチャイコフスキーのピアノ協奏曲2番など、興味深い選曲です。組数にしては価格も安くお買い得な内容になっています。
たまたま、らららクラシックで、幻想交響曲と魔法使いの弟子を放送していて、両方収録されたアルバムはないかと捜していたらこのBOXになりました。幻想交響曲は、カラヤン、クリュイタンス盤、魔法使いの弟子はプレートル盤が好きですが、マルティノン盤も好きな1枚に加えようと思います。

今春のシカゴコレクションに続いて、買いですね。世間に出回り過ぎている、EMIのラヴェル、ドビュッシーの録音を外したのが、好企画です。かつて、コロムビアから出ていた、LPをコツコツ１枚ずつ買っていたのが懐かしいです。サンサーンスの交響曲は、EMI盤にくらべてしっとりとしています。こうしてみると、ワーナーがEMIを買収したのは、悪くなかったですね。
