KING CRIMSON（キング・クリムゾン）とFOREIGNER（フォリナー）創設メンバー Ian McDonald（イアン・マクドナルド）が逝去。享年75歳

KING CRIMSONとFOREIGNERの創設メンバーとして活躍したIan McDonaldが亡くなったことが明らかになった。享年75歳。

Ian McDonaldは1946年、ミドルセックス生まれ。ロンドン出身のプログレッシヴ・ロック・バンド KING CRIMSONを結成し、1969年にアルバム『In The Court Of The Crimson King』を発表。革命的なデビュー作としてメディアなどから高評価を獲得した。1976年にはニューヨークでロック・バンド FOREIGNERを結成。同バンドには1980年まで在籍し、1999年にはソロ・アルバム『Drivers Eyes』を発表した。

そのほか、T.REXの“Get It On”でサックスを担当するなど、セッション・ミュージシャンとしても活躍。近年ではHONEY WESTというバンドに参加し、2017年にアルバム『Bad Old World』をリリースした。

今回の訃報を受け、SNSでは追悼のコメントが寄せられている。
